Shopping for a bunk bed at Ikea ended up taking all day.
Not that it took that long to choose. I had actually narrowed down the bed we wanted online and we were technically just there to buy it. But you know how it is…we had to try out every couch, gush over the system kitchen that would never fit into my apartment and ponder over how many pots for plants I need (and by need, I mean want).
We also took a break and ate at the Ikea restaurant. Not only are their dishes very cheap, they had a vegetarian dish on their menu, too! We all tried the Veggie Ball Kurozu Ankake and it was really good!
At the end of the afternoon, we finally got around to buying our bunk bed, which we somehow maneuvered into our tiny car. It was a tight fit going back home but I had tons of fun. Mission accomplished! 😀

If after August you decide to do an Airbnb thing I might have to pass. The Norddal is a quarter inch shorter than I. Although I am sure I am getting shorter… Still, it makes me think of Procrustes.
So what is going in the critically necessary flower pots? This is a good time of year for that. I finally root pruned a lot of my potted plants. I’m waiting on the cymbidiums until after the blooms are gone. One stalk is leaving tomorrow—Mother’s Day. They look good on the gravesite.

The Ikea restaurant actually has a number of vegetarian dishes. Nice.

We have yet to decide who gets which bunk 😉
My herbs this year are just the basics: basil, rosemary, french parsley and shiso. Are cymbidiums a type of orchid? I love orchids, they always remind me of my late grandpa in Okinawa. I'm sure your mother appreciates them, too 🙂

Ouch, bunk beds? I can see it being fun for kids, but after sleeping in them a bit, I am happy to not have one. I did airbnb in Osaka and shared a bunk. I was on the top but I always worried about waking the guy below when I moved. He also moved and shook the entire bed. Hopefully both of you don't move too much in your sleep. Knowing your style, I doubt you'd care that much anyways. You need to see more of your apartment.
Also, I think the bottom bunk is better as you can get out more often. If I was there, I think we wouldn't worry about it as I usually go to sleep when you wake up. Same with Ru, if I roomed with her.

We've yet to build the bunk bed, it's for when someone else needs to stay over at my place. The apartment is tiny so we may have to use the high ceiling to our advantage one of these days. I always thought bunk beds were like a fort and actually have pretty fond memories. Then again, it may be because I always got the top bunk. Not sure how my sister feels.
But on the other hand, looks like we wouldn't have to fight over which bunk bed we get! Ha.

If I have a place that small, I'd just grab a sleeping bag and a futon and put them outside on the balcony. 😉 j/k
I am usually on the top bunk too, but I prefer the bottom now. I usually don't have a choice though. I did sleep in a semi-bunk once and got the bottom. Super Hotel has a semi bunk where the bed below is wide, and the one above is perpendicular to the bottom one. Basically, this one:

By the sounds of things, yeah, you won't be fighting over it. Although building it for one guest and then taking it down after sounds like a pain.
