Happy New Year!!!
I woke up bright and early to see the first sunrise of the year rising up above one of the many mountains we have in Ehime. This sunrise is called Hatsuhinode in Japan and many of us rise early (or just not sleep at all on new years eve) to see the first light of the year. It was pretty fantastic.
How was your new years holiday?
I’ll be in Ehime with my family until the end of the week. It’s always good to be home during the holidays. We are all overdosing on mikan, both store bought and picked from the mikan trees in our yard. We have a lot to be thankful for and I’m hoping this year will be another good year for us.

I'm on a shopping buzz right now. Need to keep shopping but I have no money for things. 😦
PS: I could have watched the sunrise but I had no where to do it. Problem with Tokyo, you need to find a tall building to see the sunrise. Also, had to take Sox to get his shots. Needed to sleep a bit.

Are you buying fukubukuro? I went by Starbucks yesterday to grab a fukubukuro but that's the extent of my shopping. In regards to funds, maybe you need to make “aunties” and “uncles” that will give you otoshidama so you can go shopping ;D
PS: Well, it doesn't really matter when you see the first light, as long as it's the first light for you 😉

No fukubukuro for me. I usually can't find any that interest me.
My aunties and uncles back home still give a little otoshidama. We call it lucky money and I usually get it on Chinese New Year. Only problem, it is in Canadian dollars and in my Canadian bank account…
If we are talking about first light, does the TV count? 😉 I always wanted to see the sunrise and I also wanted to do a polar bear swim. Who knows if or when I'll do it.

How is the Canadian dollar doing against the yen? Chinese New Year may be in time to make the last bit of our winter sales so I think you're okay 😉
PS: I think TVs don't count…but then again we are all about creative interpretations here in Japan so if you think it is, then it is!

The CAD is usually close to the USD these last few years. So it is getting stronger to the Yen, but I never touch my CAD. I leave it in Canada as it is too expensive to send it over. I would be paying roughly $70 to send it here, per transaction.
